Book Review #19 - The Dharavi Model

Image
This book gave a complete outlook during 2020 covid-19 outbreak. The irony is that Dharavi, which has a population of about 1 million and is probably the most densely packed human settlement on Earth, has largely contained the coronavirus. Thanks to an aggressive response by local officials and the active participation of residents, the slum has gone from what looked like an out-of-control outbreak in April and May to a late-September average of 1.3 cases per day for every 100,000 residents, compared with about 7 per 100,000 in Portugal. That success has made Dharavi an unlikely role model. Rating - 🌟🌟🌟🌟/5

Book Review #18 - It doesn't end here

Image
Book:  It doesn't end here Author : J. Alchem "Love never dies, It Fizzles out maybe, but it stays there in your heart buried by emotions controlling you. Once the fire is rekindled love breathes a new life" Blurb: Samuel and Sara had been a couple for three years. However, Samuel doesn't love her anymore. He had already made two attempts at breaking up with her, which failed. Steeling himself, Samuel approaches Sara the third time to call it off but ends up in emotional turmoil following a shocking revelation. As the clouds start to clear, he is surprised to realize he is in love again. But this time Sara... 🌟 What is my take on this? The feeling of love is strange; it can make you do things that have no rationale. Samuel's love for Sara is similar. When he was determined to break up with her after feeling that he has fallen out of love, he fails in other two attempts to do so. And then, Sara reveals a truth that leaves him flustered and confused at the same t...

Book Review #17 - Lucid Dreams - Let's Redefine Love

Image
Book:  Lucid Dreams - Let's Redefine Love Author :  G. Mehul Krishna Kumar "The end is always a beginning for a new tale to uncover itself" "Situations may keep lovers apart but love finds its way" What would you do when you fall in love but face dejection? What would happen when your love demands sacrifice for the greater good? The story is a tale of Aman and Reshmi, the schoolmates and the lovers. There is a good portrayal of one-sided love and its perceptions; sometimes which is far from reality.  🌟 What is my take on this? The narration and the plot is good. However, there was more scope in the writing style with a better need for editing. Author has put good efforts in the creation of plot and in designing the characters and incidents which is commendable. The poems and quotes written in every chapter is carrying a gist of the flow. 🌟 What are my thoughts on the title and cover? The cover is lovely and has a special significance of the 'pink', i...

Book :  Only The Good Die Young & I'm not a saint Author :  Akash Verma The thriller read that is mindboggling, nail biting and engrossing at the same time. Book Review #15 - Behaya

Image
Book :  Behaya Author :  Vineeta Asthana The book highlights the story of working women and the dilemma they face in the shades and facets of the society and the societal norms and beliefs. What usually appears from outside is far from reality and truth. Many women in our society bear atrocities against them and they are petrified to act fearing the consequences and the views of the people around. But eventually, what matters is that a woman must fight against them and stand for herself to attain the righteousness and justice. In a similar way, even men can be a victim to women who attempt to use them, threaten them for their own selfish motives.  🌟 What is my take on this? I loved the portrayal and the character of Siya and Abhigyan. It was a wonder how beautifully the flow was narrated and that kept me etched to the book throughout. It connected me so well with the characters and I could reflect with certain happenings in my life as well. It's a great and an ins...

Book Review #13 - Beyond the horizon with You & Life

Image
Book :  Beyond the horizon with You & Life Author :  Chandan Sarkar  There are unsaid words, feelings and thoughts that linger in heart but reflects through eyes. The book has vivid such feelings, thoughts, sorrows, longing as well as the momentary joys that make living worthwhile. These are well expressed in form of 33 poems. 🌟 What is my take on this? The poems have a sense of longing, a wishful need for a better world; one that is free of selfishness, greed, hatred, dirty politics and barbarous crimes and one that spreads love and hope. The clouds being a metaphor of hopefulness, purity and vivaciousness. The colors of clouds and the imagination weaves various shades and layers of human emotion. It also describes the depth of soulful connections in the world. There is reminiscence of moments that are priceless and pious. Loneliness has creeped in various lives because of the cruelty in the world, a world which needs to be a better place. "Closed my eyes, In...
